I'm originally from Portland, OR, and have always felt most at home in the towering trees and thundering seas of the pacific northwest. I also lived in the Bay Area, CA, for many years and came to love its rolling hills and sparkling waters. After some time traveling abroad, I found myself back on the west coast to finish up school and take my first job post-grad at Olympic National Park in Washington.
Who knows where the future will lead for me; all I can say for sure is I'm excited to have my work out in the world! I created this website to showcase my work as a science communicator because that's what I feel the world needs from me right now. It's where my heart is, where my thoughts go, and what I truly enjoy doing.
I'm constantly considering how to share about the natural world with others, how to encourage connection with it, how to be a better steward of it myself. As someone who grew up creating art then went on to get a more scientific degree, I find I have a unique view of the world and a unique take on communicating its complexities. I love art and I love science, but neither on its own is as fulfilling as when I use both together. As much as I love doing research, I have a strong desire to use my writing and artistic voice to share all the good that science can do and all the wonder it can inspire in a way that is accessible, interesting, and relevant to a wider audience. More and more, I find myself drawn to a path in education, changing hearts and minds with the wonder and awe of learning.
Thank you for being here and staying curious!
